The Dungeon: Part 2

Well, I have done it again… I helped to clean out the “dungeon”. I’m not sure if I explained in my last blog what the dungeon is. It is the old building where my church used to meet (Ivan did a great job messing the place up). About half of the building is still in need of repair, and turned into a “catch all” kind of storage place for us.

We had out so much crap, yes crap, in there were did not know what was what. Or what was where. Enter the crazy people who volunteered to help…
Everytime I went into that place, I didn’t go alone. Plus I would pray everytime I was opening a box (I was praying that nothing would jump out on me). One day something actually did get on me. I think it was maybe a spider, or some kind of insect with legs. Either way, I screamed like a girl when it landed and ran on my arm.  I was both embarrassed and in shock. I shudder at just the thought of it.

All in all, it went pretty good. We have gone through almost everything, and put items in their respective bins. They’re its one bin in particular that I LOVE. This is yet another reason I love my church:

On a gross note, we found a half eaten Jay of peanut butter:

Some ground cumin:

And lay but not least, an unopened bottle if orange soda (the thing was in the bottom of a box and had been there so long it was concave!):

Thankfully, that was the grossest stuff found. We did come across a few funny things… and some items that made you go “what the farkle?!”.
Now, my church is a place full of performers for kids church. But still, some if the pros make you scratch your head.
Example, not one, but TWO toilet seats!

We also suspended mice/rats, but we could never find any proof:

Then there was the scary find of three rolls of duct tape. I mean hey, (I totally feel like I sound like that dude from duck dynasty) you can fix anything with that stuff.
image

We also discovered a plastic owl. No clue why we have it, or when we acquired it:

Oh, then there was the most random box of all. I’m not sure if it tops the chain and communion wafers box, but it was close:

I don’t know if there will be a part three, they were almost done on the last day that I volunteered. I hope you got as much humor and laughs out of this as I did!

Zits and Acne

If you are around me for any when does time,  you usually hear someone say,  “wow you have great skin”. While.this is.true, and I usually have hardly any breakouts (yeah yeah, I’m rubbing it in your face. The past month has been a completely different story… It started with the typical zit you get when you don’t wash your face. I did everything I could to get rid of the evil thing on my face… nothing worked. Then it began to spread! By the time I normally have my skin back to normal, I had four big zits and a small rough patch. They are finally going down and my skin is getting softer.

So how did I do it? I went to the googles and research my head off! Here is what I found:

How Zits/Acne Work:

Pimples are created when dead skin cells become trapped inside the follicle. Add excess sebum, the skin’s natural oil, and an abundance of acne-causing bacteria and you soon have a pimple.

Several factors can lead to acne
*Hormones
*Heredity
*Some medicines
*Some make-up and cosmetic products
*Friction from clothing and sporting         equipment
*Environmental factors such as pollution and humidity

Factors that do not lead to acne include:
Diet
Dirt on the skin
Normal, day-to-day stress

So how to get rid of it?
Effective acne treatment focuses on slowing down the skin’s production of oil, speeding up cellular renewal and fighting bacteria. Ok, that is all well and good, but how in the heck do I treat this crap when that doesn’t work???
The best site I went to is http://m.wikihow.com/Have-Clear-Skin-Naturally

*Drink water. Water cleanses your body, helping eliminate toxins. It also hydrates you and rids your skin of dirt and oils. Try to drink half your body weight in ounces.– For example, if you weigh 100 lbs (45 kg), drink 50 oz (1.5 l) of water each day).

*Use natural cleansers. Facial cleansers with too many harsh chemicals can actually be harmful to your skin. Harsher chemicals have been known to strip paint off of walls and bleach certain fabrics. Using natural, organic cleansers will help your skin clear up faster and can be much more effective than unnatural cleansers.

*Ensure a proper, nutritious diet. Eat lots of fruits, nuts, seeds, beans etc. Eating healthy, along with taking in the right vitamins and micro-nutrients can do wonders for your skin. Try going vegan for a week to see what it does for you. Avoid meat, fish, eggs, fried foods, white flour and white sugar products, coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, including contraceptive drugs, and any other stimulating over-the-counter medicines. Anything that is artificial, man-made or processed will be lacking in some way when compared to natural, unprocessed products.

*Wear less makeup. Wearing too much makeup will be damaging for your skin in the long run. Chances are people don’t notice skin breakouts when they first see you. If you have to wear makeup, use natural and mineral makeup only.

*Don’t stay in the sun for too long. Try to limit your exposure to the sun during the middle of the day (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM). If you must be in the sun for extended periods, be sure to wear protection.

*Exercise at least 15 minutes a day. Exercising properly can make your skin glow. Be sure to wash your face after your exercise routine: Sweat and dirt can clog your pores.

*Be sure to wash your face properly. Wash your face with warm water to open your pores. Rinse your face with cold water to close your pores back up and prevent dirt from entering.

For deep blemishes and long-term infections, try diluted apple cider vinegar. Lavender oil can also be used as an effective anti-acne facial steam by diluting a couple drops in a hot pot of water, covering your head with a towel, and then by placing your face over the pot. The lavender steam opens the pores and is antiseptic.

I kind of made my own regimen. First off, I cleaned my face really well, including a micro dermabrasion. Next I’ve been going without makeup whenever possible. If I need to some makeup, I just put a little bit of powder on. Next, I increased my water intake followed by mite fruits and vegetables.

Let me know what works for you!

What to do, what to do…

I have a bit if a conundrum. I in bed getting a grocery list started when Belle comes and lays on my lap. I give her a pet or two and get back to my list.
Weeeeelllll, I finish my lousy list to find the cat LAYING on my lap asleep!
See, Belle used to be a feral kitty. After months and months and months, I was able to pet her. I had to make her to be an inside cat because of an issue with a neighbor. She is still a skitty kitty and didn’t like other cats that much.
Anyway, my problem is that I still need to brush my teeth (I have had oral hygiene pumped in my head since I was little). So what to do? It took a lot of trust for her to fall asleep in my lap, and I don’t want to disturb her… ugh!
I guess she wins.

I wanted to blog today

I really wanted to blog today, I even had the whole thing planned out! But. I have been in a grumpy mood, tired, had a headache and just felt out of sorts. I also looked for a job and updated my resume. An let me tell you, it was a fight between myself and my computer.

Anyway, I’m of to bed. I have church in the morning 🙂 G’night all

Cleaning the Dungeon

Well, a friend of mine and I have been organizing what is known as “the dungeon” at our church. It is basically a shortage area that is a catchall. Anywho, we have come across several, um, unique things. Just take a look at the pictures for yourself.
image

First we have a box with random electronic stuffs and a cordless phone handset.
image

In another area we found a Stetson gift set and a “glasses” sippy straw.
image

Lay but not least, a container with communion wafers, a non-working clock, some random folders and a chain.
Oh yeah, we also found some crutches.
Oh the things you come across when cleaning out the dungeon. 🙂

Meet Lawrence

Well, as you probably do not know, I have several cats. I am planning on introducing you to each of them in the blog; and give their stories. So here we go!

First off is Lawrence. He, like all my pets, have many names. His are Lawrence, LLB, Lawrence Lovey Boy and Low-jack just to name a few. He is is a VERY vocal boy and lets you know when he wants lovins. But what is amazing about him is that he LOVES car rides! I can ask him is he wants to go bye bye, and he will jump up and run to the door!

Once we are in the car, he is promptly in my lap looking out the window. Once we are underway, he heads to the back.

When we get to our location (usually we go to the drug store drive thru), he is back in my lap and looks out of the window. If a car pulls up behind us, he will try to get out of the window. But no worries, I keep him on a leash and harness.

Anywho, there you go! That is Lawrence…   🙂

So this is my blog… I plan to write about a little of this and a little of that. My most recent inspirations come from DomesticGeekGirl (http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com). Hopefully with help from her, and other bloggers, I will have this thing figured out.
